After an expected bad August 2017, there is September when marketing agencies open their doors and stock footage is again in action. It was a very decent month for us, but far from what it was in previous years. We did see a slight improvement in Shutterstock ($1826) slowly gaining back its trust of our stock footage after removing our images. Their punishment was very long-term. Thousands of lost income for us. One the other hand Pond5 ($552) has completely lost their way. Last and previous year it was double this income. Following it was Fotolia/Adobe Stock ($293) with mid-low income, even iStockPhoto/Getty Images ($162) wasn’t among the worst. The biggest disappointment was Dissolve ($139). The last three months of this year will show if we even exceeded last year results or not.
The truth is, this year we didn’t upload so many new clips than previous years. We uploaded only quality footage, that is why there were much less “fillers”. And yet they are still not gaining any sales. Maybe they will next year.
